On the 21/02/24, Bloomberg reported that Reddit had secured a $60 million annual contract with an unnamed large AI company, which was later confirmed to be Google by Reuters.
This collaboration, valued at $60 million annually, allows Google to access real-time, structured content (via a RAG pipeline) from Reddit through the Reddit Data API.
The deal also grants Google the ability to train AI models using Reddit's posts. Their intention is to use Reddit’s user-generated content to fine-tune generative AI models.
